Parenting, Family Care and Adolescence in East and Southern Africa: An evidence-focused literature review

This research is meant to inform policy and interventions in eastern and southern Africa by increasing knowledge about family life, care practices and support structures for families with adolescents.  The research starts by answering a key question: “How is parenting understood and practiced in the region?”  Then, looks a structural factors affecting adolescent-parent relationships.  And concludes by asking “Where do parents and adolescents seek and find support?”  The publication’s discussion and conclusions lead to recommendations for policies and interventions.
