In 2015 an estimated 1.8 million children under 15 years of age were living with HIV but only 49% had access to lifesaving medicines. Thus, there is an unmet need for palliative care for children living with HIV and AIDS. The International Children’s Palliative Care Network and RIATT-ESA have released a policy brief with key points and recommendations on how to ensure that children, who fall through the cracks in terms of prevention and treatment, are able to access the palliative care that they need.
