This guide provides step-by-step instructions for facilitating a daylong workshop focused on safeguarding children’s rights. The workshop is designed for staff members, outreach workers, and others responding to the needs of children and vulnerable young people. Participants can reflect on ethical dilemmas faced in their work and build their capacity to serve vulnerable children and young people. To meet these objectives, the guide includes discussion questions for facilitating reflections, case studies to demonstrate the application of child protection principles, and other workshop activities. It contains additional tools and resources for participants seeking to enhance their understanding of this topic. Included in the appendix are the author’s (International HIV/AIDS Alliance) policy on protection of children and vulnerable adults, a child friendly version of this policy, and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
