Vulnerable children and families face multiple and complex risks which are best met through an integrated and comprehensive approach. At the service level, integrated case management is recognized as a best practice, however, many factors challenge this approach. This guide intentionally focuses on what is needed for integration to work and is aimed at policy makers and program managers working across Eastern and Southern Africa whose role is to support and protect the rights of vulnerable children and their families. The guide walks users through the steps in assessing the situation, building consensus and creating an action plan, then details how to integrate system components and develop monitoring and evaluation for the case management system.
