Organization: The Media in Education Trust

This book is intended for caregivers – parents, teachers, social service workers, and health practitioners – and offers practical ways to provide psychosocial support to children under age 9 to cope with the emotional impact of HIV. Children may themselves be infected with HIV or may have a family member who is infected or has died from HIV. Caregivers can play an important role in helping to change attitudes toward HIV, providing helping children with low self-confidence, and helping children cope with sickness and death. This book includes a range of activities and games for children to help them deal with these emotional hardships. It also offers suggestions to help caregivers cope with HIV, facts about HIV, how to recognize HIV in children, and local resources (KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa).
