This review summarizes observation based recommendations for supporting and strengthening child-caregiver relationships in the context of HIV and AIDS and poverty. The review extracts general principals of best practices for family support and strengthening of child-caregiver relationships from broader research to facilitate discussions on contextually appropriate programming for parenting support of family units affected by HIV and AIDS and poverty. This review compiles recent findings on best practice interventions that support and strengthen child-caregiver relationships in low resource settings and serves as a resource for different programming approaches to support families affected by HIV and AIDS.
