Violations against child protection negatively impact HIV outcomes, extenuating the need for the integration of response interventions specific to HIV and protection. This paper presents findings from a global literature review, key informant interviews, and a study commissioned by the Inter Agency Task Team on Children affected by HIV and AIDS. The purpose of the study was to gain a better understanding for approaches of child protection systems in response to the needs of children living with and affected by HIV and how practitioners and policymakers can focus more attention to child protection issues. This document details existing evidence, identifies gaps in the child protection system and provides numerous recommendations for strengthening protection systems at the community, national and global level.
