This manual provides guidance for volunteers and field workers using the Child Status Index (CSI). The CSI is a helpful monitoring and evaluation tool for OVC case management. The tool aims to help workers systematically identify the needs of a child and their household, create goal-directed service plans, and assess the impact of interventions. It assesses six broad domains, which parallel PEPFAR/OVC guidelines: Food and Nutrition; Shelter and Care; Protection; Health; Psychosocial; and Education and Skills Training. The manual offers an overview of the CSI and its development as well as step-by-step guidance for administering the CSI and interpreting the results. The CSI, sample interview questions, and a pictorial version of the tool are included in the appendices.
