Families everywhere are the primary support system for a child’s protection, health and socialization. In the context of poverty, this support is often strained due to limited material and social resources, particularly in families experiencing the effects of HIV/AIDS. This paper, created by the Joint Learning Initiative on Children and HIV/AIDS (JLICA), compiles evidence-based literature on family-centered models of supporting children living with or affected by HIV/AIDS. This paper provides evidence for program designers and policymakers, and opportunities and challenges of family-centered support approaches for children affected by HIV/AIDS.
