This paper uses case studies from South Asia to explore the need for differential programming between low and high prevalence countries in addressing the economic strengthening needs for children affected by HIV/AIDS. It provides programme and policy recommendations around the need for strategies geared more towards HIV risk reduction than impact mitigation and for community based strategies rather than individual or household based.
