This research paper explores the experiences of children within family and community practices which improve children’s perception on resilience. Focusing on existing local cultural practices and relationships, this research examines opportunities for children to build resilience within their communities to prepare them before and after a crisis. Various ages and developmental stages are considered throughout the research and a framework is provided to better understand resilience. This paper provides approaches for enhancing resilience, research findings, experiences of children of different ages, and recommendations for framing responses through external support systems to enhance resilience.
