Families play an integral role in the lives and development of children. Strengthening the ability of a family to appropriately care for their children impacts developmental outcomes of the child. This guide is a section of a series of good practice guides created by the International HIV/AIDS Alliance and Save the Children and contains strategies and resources for assisting HIV programmers to implement family-centered HIV interventions for children. The goal of this guide is to increase knowledge around family-centered approaches as a complement to improving impacts of services, to assist program implementers in applying these approaches, and to support advocacy for family-centered programs as an approach to care, support and treatment of children affected by HIV and AIDS. Program designers and implementers may find this resource useful in developing programs or services for children affected by HIV/AIDS.
