Lessons from the Children and AIDS Regional Initiative (CARI): Child-and HIV-sensitive social protection in Eastern and Southern Africa

The purpose of this document is to explore child and HIV sensitive social protection within five Children and AIDS Regional Initiative countries – Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Swaziland and Tanzania. This study summarizes a collection of assessments taken by various programs and policies on their performance and their linkages and compliments with other programs and services. This document concludes with positive and promising developments, challenges and potential expansion opportunities based on the five country case studies.
