Authors: Isabel de Bruin Cardoso
Organization: Save the Children

This report on the National Plan of Action (NPA) includes findings from a multi-sectoral workshop on legal and policy frameworks protecting orphans and vulnerable children. This report reviews case studies on Save the Children’s involvement in monitoring, implementing and reviewing of National Plan of Actions in seven countries in Southern and East Africa: Angola, Ethiopia, South Africa, Swaziland, Mozambique, Uganda and Zimbabwe.  Promising practices and challenges in effective NPA implementation were identified by each country office and compiled to draw lessons learned. With this, the report contextualizes the development of NPAs to provide social protection of Orphans and Vulnerable Children.
