FHI 360 has recently developed three resources to support children and adolescents living with HIV and improve their treatment outcomes. They include:
Package of Services and Interventions for Children and Adolescents Living with HIV: Guidance for Orphans and Vulnerable Children: This document describes the package of services and interventions that OVC programs should provide to CALHIV and the principles programs should follow when providing services to this population. This information can help enhance the overall quality of care provided by OVC programs to CALHIV.
HIV Treatment Adherence Counseling and Retention Guide: A job aid for cadres supporting adolescents living with HIV (ages 15-19) in Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) Programs: This tool can be used to provide counseling and support to adolescents living with HIV (ALHIV) ages 15–19, to ensure they adhere to HIV treatment and achieve viral-load suppression. It will help identify risks that may prevent adolescents’ adherence and treatment continuity, plan supportive interventions and track progress. The guide is intended for OVC program cadres with ALHIV counseling responsibilities.
HIV Treatment Adherence Counseling and Retention Guide: A job aid for cadres supporting caregivers of children and adolescents living with HIV (ages 0-14) in Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) Programs: This tool can be used to provide counseling and support to caregivers of children and adolescents living with HIV (CALHIV) ages 0–14 to ensure that caregivers support their children in adhering to HIV treatment and achieving viral-load suppression. The guide is intended for OVC program cadres responsible for counseling caregivers.
