This document, created by the Parenting in Africa Network (PAN), focuses on empowering parents and caregivers by providing them with the necessary skills to promote healthy and appropriate growth and development of their children. Reviewed in this document is a study done in Kenya, led by PAN, that explored whether parent and caregivers understand how molding behavior at a young age affects behavior and choices made by the child in the future, particularly in the context of violence and criminal activity. The findings of this study are presented in this document, along with recommendations and information on the importance of skillful parenting, and current policies and programs in place in Kenya to promote skillful parenting.
