Many of Namibia’s orphaned and vulnerable children (OVC) have been infected or affected by HIV and AIDS. A majority of these children are being cared for by extended family members, putting financial and resource strain on the family unit. This paper details the current structure of Namibia’s social welfare system, how it supports OVC and the social welfare workforce structure. Also included in this paper are the challenges faced by the social welfare workforce for OVC, the approaches Namibia has taken to address these challenges and tools, curricula, and resources to support these efforts.
