This training handbook, part of the Kids ART Education Series, is designed for trainers working with parents and caregivers of children with HIV and/or receiving HIV treatment, specifically Antiretroviral Therapy (ART). Trainers and community facilitators can help parents and caregivers to be better informed about HIV and ART, understand the unique needs of children receiving ART, and implement activities to support these children. The handbook contains six training modules: Introduction to Training, Children and HIV, Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) for Children, Caring for a Child on ART, Caring for the Caregiver, Action Planning – Committing to Supporting Parents of Children on ART. The handbook suggests that the training take place over a 5-day period. The handbook provides seventeen handouts to be used during training, tips for effective trainers, and evaluation tools.
