The 1612 Monitoring and Reporting Mechanism (MRM) documents six grave violations perpetrated against children in situations of armed conflict. The six violations: recruitment and use of children, killing and maiming children of children, abduction of children, rape and sexual violence against children, attacks against schools and hospitals, and denial of humanitarian access. This Resource Pack complements the UN’s MRM materials and offers 64 tools that are tailored for NGOs. It provides a range of information, advice, guidance, tools and examples to help NGOs mainstream the MRM and to autonomously identify gaps and strengthen their capacity to monitor and report grave violations against children. The resource pack is divided into four parts: Understanding the MRM, Planning participation in the MRM, Engaging the MRM, Learning from the MRM. Types of tools included in the resource pack: factsheets, checklists, self-assessment and guiding questions, matrixes, charts/diagrams, case studies, and exercises.
