According to this paper, written by the African Child Policy Forum (ACPF), children with disabilities comprise one of the most socially and economically neglected groups in Africa. Armed conflict, poverty and a lack of adequate health services have left Africa with one of the largest populations of children with disabilities in the world. Lack of research and differences in definitions have led to a major gap in evidence that have hindered policies and programs for children with disabilities. This report provides the evidence and analysis on children with disabilities in Africa needed for recommending effective policy development and programming.
