We care for young children: Helping adolescent caregivers look after young children

January 1, 2010
Organization: Project Concern International

Many young children are left in the care of older siblings. As the primary caregiver, adolescent caregivers become responsible for their younger siblings’ needs, including physical, social, emotional, spiritual and intellectual needs. Adolescent caregivers are children themselves and, while looking after their younger siblings, have a double responsibility of also caring for their own health and nutritional needs. We care…for young children equips adolescent caregivers with better information to care for the younger children in their care.
