January 1, 2014
Organization: USAID, Pact, Child Fund, FHI360

This disability inclusion training guide was designed to be used with Yekokeb Berhan staff members and volunteers. Its main objectives are to strengthen individuals’ capacity when working with children with disabilities by teaching training participants the following main points: 1) there are different kinds of disabilities and a range of severity, 2) there are many conditions that can be treated through early diagnosis and treatment, 3) children with disabilities should not be defined by what they cannot do, instead by what they CAN do, and 4) how to get information on how to connect disability-affected families with necessary resources so that children with disabilities can lead self-fulfilling and independent lives. Four training modules are included in the orientation pack.
