Join Pact for an AIDS Satellite Session on Sunday, July 31, 17:45 – 19:15 EST/ Montreal time.
Global progress toward 95% viral suppression among children and adolescents living with HIV (C/ALHIV) continues to lag and be consistently lower than for adults living with HIV. While gains have been progressively made since 2015, they have not been fast enough and disparities in treatment coverage and outcomes between children and adults persist. Pact and its partners will share advances and learnings in community-based program approaches to address drivers of low viral suppression among C/ALHIV, opportunities for greater synergies between community and ART service providers to improve clinical outcomes among C/ALHIV, and best practices in child-centered ART adherence for scale-up. This satellite will include a global overview of viral suppression trends among C/ALHIV and remaining gaps in the HIV response, presentations from experts on proven approaches to optimize treatment success for C/ALHIV taking into consideration the COVID-19 pandemic. This will be followed by a panel discussion on priorities and challenges for improving viral suppression among children/adolescents and Q&A with audience members.
